Batteries

Solar batteries let you store the energy your panels produce during the day so you can use it at night or during peak consumption hours. At GreenIce we work with Solax Power lithium batteries designed for residential self-consumption, easy to integrate and expandable as your needs grow.

Solar batteries available at GreenIce

Our current selection focuses on the Solax Power T58 modular system, a 5.8 kWh battery that works in a master/slave configuration:

  • Solax Power T58-V2 with BMS (master): 5.8 kWh module with a built-in battery management system (BMS) that controls charging, discharging, temperature and cell balancing. This is the module you always need to start the installation.
  • Solax Power T58-V2 without BMS (slave): additional 5.8 kWh module that connects to the master battery to expand storage capacity without changing systems.

This modular architecture lets you start with a capacity matched to your current consumption and add more modules in the future, for example if you install more panels, a heat pump or an EV charger.

What does a battery do in a solar installation?

Without a battery, any energy your solar panels produce that you don't use right away is fed into the grid. With a battery you can:

  • Increase self-consumption: use the midday surplus to cover your afternoon and evening consumption.
  • Lower your electricity bill: buy less energy from the grid during the most expensive time slots.
  • Gain independence: rely less on the grid and on fluctuating electricity prices.
  • Provide backup: depending on the inverter and system configuration, you can keep essential loads running during a power outage.

How to choose a solar battery

Capacity (kWh)

Work out how much energy you use from the time your panels stop producing until the next morning. A 5.8 kWh module usually covers a good share of an average home's nighttime consumption; if you use more, you can add slave modules.

Inverter compatibility

The battery must be compatible with a hybrid inverter capable of managing it. Always check battery–inverter compatibility before buying. If you already have a system with a single-phase on-grid inverter, ask us what options you have for adding storage.

Scalability

A master/slave system like the Solax T58 means you don't have to replace the battery when you need more capacity: just add modules.

Location and installation

Install the battery in a ventilated place, protected from rain and extreme temperatures, and have it connected by a licensed installer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the slave battery on its own?

No. The slave battery has no BMS and must be connected to a master battery that manages the whole system.

What warranty do they come with?

Solax Power batteries come with the manufacturer's official warranty. Check the terms on each product page.

At GreenIce we offer fast shipping, the manufacturer's official warranty on Solax batteries and technical advice to help you size your solar storage system.
