Measurements of the T5 and T8 tubes
The T5 LED tubes and T8 are a type of cylindrical luminaire that spreads its light linearly. The main differences between this type of tubes are basically two:
The first of them is the type of bushing they use. The T5 tubes use a G5 type socket (the acronym G refers to the type of contact that would be by simple pressure, while the number 5 refers to the separation between pins, which would be 5 mm). On the contrary, T8 tubes use a G13 socket (the acronym G refers to the type of contact that would be by simple pressure, while the number 13 refers to the separation between pins, which would be 13 mm).
The second of them is the measurement of the tubes themselves, with the T5 tubes being 5 cm smaller than the T8 tubes. This can be better seen in the following tables, which also show the equivalences between fluorescent tubes and LED tubes.
T8 LED Tube Measurements
The measurements of the T8 LED tubes They are standard which makes replacement simple and easy for the customer to identify. The difference in consumption between fluorescent tubes and LED tubes is 50% as can be seen in the table. As for the most common measurements that we can find, they are 600, 1200 and 1500 mm. Therefore, by changing from fluorescent to LED we save 50% in electrical consumption.

T5 LED Tube Measurements
As was the case with T8 tubes, the measurements of this type of tube are standard to facilitate their installation. As can be seen in the table, the socks are very similar to the T8 tubes but with a deficit of 5 cm. Furthermore, the consumption of LED tubes is half that of fluorescent tubes, so energy savings are more than guaranteed.

Main uses of T8 and T5 LED tubes
The most commonly used tubes in most installations are T8 tubes. This is because it provides a large amount of lighting in a small space (remember that the largest measures 1500 mm). Also due to its robustness and construction, it is the appropriate element for most installations, whether industrial or residential.
On the other hand, tubes with a T5 cap are more used in places where we need a large amount of light, but the measurements are very tight. Therefore, they are mostly used in light fixtures and places where spaces are very restrictive.
