Osram/Ledvance Traditional LED Bulbs

Osram/Ledvance traditional bulbs are the answer when you need to replace an incandescent or halogen lamp with one exactly like the original. At GreenIce we keep a small selection of these classic Ledvance-Osram light sources for specific applications: decorative fixtures, appliances that require a particular bulb or installations that haven't yet made the switch to LED.

Types of traditional bulbs available

  • E14 incandescent bulbs: 15 W (85 lm) and 25 W (140 lm), with warm 2700 K light and dimmable. Common in salt lamps, ovens, fridges, night lamps or candelabras.
  • Mains-voltage G9 halogen: 25 W, 260 lm and 2700 K, for wall lights and small lamps with this curved two-pin base.
  • Low-voltage G4 halogen: 10 W, 130 lm and 2800 K, dimmable, for 12 V fixtures such as display cabinets, reading lamps or range hoods.
  • 4.8 V bayonet bulb: a miniature bulb for flashlights and small battery-powered devices.

When does a traditional bulb make sense?

LED technology is now the most efficient way to light, but there are cases where a traditional bulb is still useful: appliances where the lamp has to withstand high temperatures, decorative lamps whose effect depends on the filament, older equipment with dimmers that don't support LED, or simply replacing an identical part. If you need general lighting, we recommend switching to LED: see our Osram-Ledvance LED bulbs.

How to choose the right bulb

Base

Check the base of the old bulb: E14 (small screw), G9 (curved pins) or G4 (thin straight pins).

Voltage

The G9 runs directly on 230 V; the G4 is low-voltage and needs a 12 V transformer. Don't mix them up.

Wattage and temperature

Respect the maximum wattage stated on the fixture. Remember that these bulbs get much hotter than LEDs.

LED alternative

If you want to save energy, there are LED equivalents with the same base, such as our G9 LED bulbs and G4 LED bulbs.

All come with the manufacturer's official warranty. At GreenIce you get fast shipping and technical advice to find the exact bulb you need.
