Osram-Ledvance R7S LED bulbs

Osram-Ledvance R7S LED bulbs are the easiest way to upgrade floodlights, floor lamps and wall lights that run on linear halogen lamps. With LED technology from a leading manufacturer, you get light similar to a traditional halogen at a fraction of the energy use and with far less heat. At GreenIce we bring this range together with R7S alternatives from other brands, so you can always find the length you need.

What is an R7S bulb?

R7S is a double-contact base, with one contact at each end of a linear lamp. It has been used for decades in high-wattage halogens, which is why you commonly find it in:

  • Indoor and outdoor floodlights of the halogen type, in patios, garages or warehouses.
  • Indirect-light floor lamps (uplighters) that light up the ceiling.
  • Wall lights with a glass diffuser.

Most common lengths

  • R7S 78 mm: short format, replaces low- and medium-wattage halogens. Common in wall lights and small floodlights.
  • R7S 118 mm: long format, replaces higher-wattage halogens, typical of floor lamps and 150 W to 500 W floodlights.

Length is critical: a lamp that does not measure exactly the same as the original will not fit between the lampholder contacts.

How to choose an R7S LED bulb

Length

Measure your current lamp from end to end and choose 78 mm or 118 mm accordingly.

Luminous flux

Look at lumens, not watts. An R7S LED delivers the light of a halogen while using much less power, so compare the output you need.

Space and heat dissipation

R7S LEDs include a heat sink and electronics, so their diameter may be larger than a halogen's. Check that they fit in the fixture, especially in floodlights with a front glass.

Dimming

Many floor lamps have a dimmer. If yours does, choose a dimmable version.

Color temperature

For living rooms and lounge areas, 2700–3000 K recreates the warm tone of halogen; in garages or warehouses you may prefer a more neutral light.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to replace the fixture to use an R7S LED?

No. In most cases you only need to swap the lamp, as long as the length and available space are right.

Are there alternatives if I can't find the model I'm looking for?

Yes. You can browse our general range of R7S LED bulbs, the Philips R7S LED bulbs or the rest of our Osram-Ledvance LED bulbs.

Osram-Ledvance products come with the official manufacturer warranty. At GreenIce you get fast shipping and technical advice to get the length and wattage right.
