Frequent questions about Downlights LED and ceiling

Downlights LED and ceilings

In Greenice we want more people to enjoy savings and luminosity that is achieved using LED Downlights and LED ceiling.

Downlights and ceiling are almost the most used products in the world of lighting. The main difference between them is that the Downlight are installed embedded (usually on a false ceiling) and the ceiling are mounted on the surface. When installing the Downlights, the most important factor to consider is the cutting diameter. This parameter can make us not be able to install a Downlight because the claws are not able to hold it.

Can you regulate the intensity of the Downlights?

Downlights are composed of a series of passive elements (LEDs and resistors) and an external power supply. This power supply is linked to the LED plate using a connector, therefore, the power supply (driver) can be disconnected and connected when desired.
With the introduction of LED technology in the world of lighting, new decoration trends such as intensity regulation have been introduced. Most of the products we acquire in our purchases are not adjustable so we have to make a series of simple modifications to be able to regulate our Downlight and/or ceiling.
In most cases, DownLights come with their power supply (driver), but this driver is not adjustable, since its electric power entry is designed to work with a current intensity and an alternating current voltage with constant value (usually 230V).
Therefore, so that any downlight or ceiling is adjustable in intensity we have to change the driver for one that allows us regulation. It is as simple as removing one and putting another since they have the same type of connector so their assembly is very easy.
To make it possible for a downlight to be adjustable, it is necessary.
Normally, this type of power supply is sold as an additional accessory when buying the Downlight, then, when installing the downlight, driver is simply replaced that brings by default, with the adjustable driver achieved as an optional product.
How we have seen, regulating our downlights and/or plates is very simple what happens to take into account a series of factors so that the regulation is complete and a success.

Installation ultrafine plates or downlights led

For the installation of the Downlights it is very important to measure the cutting diameter to know the hole we have to do or if it adapts to the hole that we have previously done.
Subsequently and once we have the Downlight already mounted with its clips, we will proceed to connect the driver to the power outlet. Once the driver is connected we will embed the Downlight in the roof hole.
Last posr, we will verify that the connection is correct and that the Downlight works correctly.

Installation of surface LED ceiling

For the installation of the ceiling, the first step we will have to make will be to disassemble the support that comes from the back of it. Once we have this support we have to screw it to the roof with the fastening screws.
Secondly, we will connect the driver to the outlet with some clemas. We will connect the driver with the ceiling so that everything is connected.
Finally, we will have to screw the support with the ceiling using the screws found at the ends of the ceiling.

How to know what dimensions does the Downlight have to be able to install in the holes I have?

Most of the time, we overlook such an important factor as the cutting diameter necessary for the Downlights. This that a priori seems something of less importance, can be an inconvenience when performing an installation and choosing a measure that is not adequate. The first characteristics that we must observe in a Downlight focus are its dimensions, among which there are many important values, such as its thickness, diameter, among others.
It is important to know the thickness of a Downlight in order to ensure that you can enter the separation between the roof and the fake roof sheets.
On the other hand, on some occasions we already have the holes on the false ceiling, therefore, you have to look the cut diameter and the external diameter of the Downlight. That is, you have to look for a downlight that has an external diameter greater than the hole diameter, in addition its cut diameter has to be less than or equal to the diameter of our hole.
How we have seen, the cutting diameter is a parameter that must be taken into consideration because a bad choice can cause us a disorder in our installation. We recommend that before making any hole you make sure of the cutting diameter that is needed. If the holes have them already made, you will have to choose the Downlight that best suits the hole you have.

¿I can use a dimmer that I already have to regulate Downlights or LED ceilings?

Perhaps it is the question that customers usually ask is if they can use the regulator they currently have with the new bulbs you have bought.
It is important to know the thickness of a Downlight in order to ensure that you can enter the separation between the roof and the fake roof sheets.
The answer to this question is probably NO. This is because if the controller (Dimmer) is quite old, this will only be compatible with halogen or incandescent bulbs. This is normally indicated in the back of the regulators, indicating the power that endures in each technology. Therefore, if we intend to use our old regulator, it is a concept that we must take into account before replacing the old bulbs with LED. In addition, we will realize that our regulators are not compatible with LED, because if we try to regulate a bulb, there will be enough annoying flickers that will affect the useful life of our bulb, being able to even damage it completely.
How in the case of the cutting diameter, the small details of the elements that we are going to use in our installation must be taken into account since not taking into account the compatibility of the regulator can cause us a serious disorder in our installation.
