We are used to the traditional way of lighting our homes, our businesses, and even the way public roads are illuminated. Our traditional halogen bulbs have offered us their service for a long period of time, but the time has come to evolve. Just as in many other aspects of our history, technological development has done its job when it comes to lighting and now, those halogens, those fluorescents have been left behind due to the advantages that LED lighting offers.

LED bulbs

The LED bulbs They are the perfect example of adaptation. This time, to the new demands of modern society, these new members of lighting offer the levels and types of lighting required in each environment, consuming less electrical energy and reducing pollution from several fronts:

  • The first and main one would be the reduction of the electrical energy consumed, thus lowering the emissions of polluting gases in the case of electrical generation from non-renewable energies.
  • The second, the waste is completely recyclable and does not have contaminating elements as in the case of fluorescent tubes. For many, it is a very big shock to take the first step, this step at first glance seems difficult, but it is simply due to ignorance, in reality making this change is much easier and will achieve an improvement in our planet and also in our pocket.

Two common cases and the easiest way to switch to LED lighting.

Case 1: halogen lamps recessed in the ceiling

The first case happens to almost all of us, we have a house full of halogen lamps embedded in our ceiling, inside some rings, these lamps often cause major headaches because not only is it a light bulb, these halogen lamps also need a power source (reactor, transformer) to be able to work, in addition to being an additional element that can be damaged, it also has a consumption that increases the electrical energy we use to illuminate our house. Typically, these halogens consume 35W, plus a few extra watts for the power supply. To change these old light bulbs we simply have to forget about our old transformer and buy some. LED bulbs with GU10 socket that can be connected directly to the electrical network through a small lamp holder, the consumption of an LED bulb with similar characteristics would be 5W.

Case 2: Downlight plates recessed in the ceiling

The second case is also very well known to us, it is present in almost all houses, they are the famous Downlight Plates recessed in the ceiling, which in most cases contain 2 "low consumption" bulbs of 18W each. These [bulbs cause many problems that force us to have to replace, check, complain, and it is very common for them to flicker or suddenly take a long time to turn on and, as if that were not enough, their waste pollutes a lot. The solution that LED lighting offers us is very simple, it is the ultra-thin LED plates for recessing, There are also some models with different designs called LED Downlights. We only have to remove our old luminaire and place these new downlights in the same place, but this time, the two-bulb model that previously consumed a total of 36W will now give us the same amount of light with 18W, that is, with half the power that the old low-consumption bulb consumed.
