COB LED strips

12VDC COB LED strips offer a continuous line of light, without the visible dots of traditional SMD strips, with the convenience of working at low voltage. They are perfect for furniture, display cases, shelves and small profiles, and at GreenIce we help you choose the strip, power supply and profile you need.

What a COB LED strip is

COB (Chip On Board) means the LED chips are mounted very close together on the board and covered with a continuous phosphor layer. The result is uniform light, like a neon line, that looks good even without a diffuser. Compared with SMD strips, COB strips allow cleaner installations in shallow profiles.

12V COB strips you'll find

  • 5 W/m, 450 lm/m COB strip: on a 5-meter roll, IP20, available in 2700K warm light and 4000K neutral light.
  • Ultra-narrow 2.7 mm format: fits minimal profiles, shelf edges or furniture grooves.

If your installation is long or you need more power, consider 24VDC COB LED strips.

Uses and applications

  • Kitchen and bathroom cabinets: light under wall cabinets or in toe kicks.
  • Display cases, displays and shelves: continuous light avoids spot reflections on glass or shiny products.
  • Headboards, niches and wardrobes.
  • RVs, boats or solar installations that run on 12V.

How to choose a 12VDC COB LED strip

Voltage and length

At 12V, voltage drop becomes noticeable sooner than at 24V: on long runs, feed the strip from both ends or split the installation.

Power supply

Add up the total wattage (5 W per meter) and choose a power supply with a safety margin of about 20%. Find it in 12/24V LED strip power supplies.

Color temperature

2700K for warm ambiances at home; 4000K for kitchens, display cases and work areas.

Profile and heat dissipation

An aluminum profile protects the strip and extends its lifespan. See our LED strip profiles.
