Frequent questions about LED panels

LED panels

In Greenice we want more people to enjoy savings and luminosity that is achieved using LED panels.

LED panels are the most used products within the world of lighting. Above all we can see it installed in offices, hospitals, etc. Its installation is carried out on the Armstrong type roof or office plot. The installation of this type of panels is very simple since it is enough to remove the mold that comes on the roof and place on the aluminum guides that form this type of roof. There are also different alternatives to be able to mount it on the surface if we have the typical plaster roof.

LED panel installation

How is it possible to install a LED panel?

LED panels can be installed in several ways, depending on the requirements of the user or the requirements imposed by the type of building or existing facilities in the place.
In cases where the roof is very high, and you want to take advantage of the light emitted by the panels, it is recommended to suspend them through a suspension kit (in some cases included and in others they can be obtained optionally).
For installations where an installation is required superficial, you can opt for a surface installation kit or a framework for superficial installation, the selection of any of them will depend on the taste of each person and what is desired.
Finally, to make an installation of LED panels embedded on the ceiling, it can be done using the clips to embed panels, so we guarantee that they are well fixed on the roof.

Can I regulate the intensity of a LED panel?

With the introduction of LED technology in the world of lighting, new decoration trends such as intensity regulation have been introduced. Most of the products we acquire in our purchases are non -adjustable so we have to make a series of simple modifications so that we can regulate LED panels. It is very common for LED panels to wear a non -dimable driver by default. This is that we cannot regulate the intensity of lighting. If what we want is to be able to regulate the light intensity what we will have to do is change the driver that comes by default for a dimable one, which will allow us to regulate the lighting intensity.
This power supply is linked to the LED panel using a connector, therefore, the power supply (driver) can be disconnected and connected when desired.
The panels come with its power supply (driver) included, but this driver is not adjustable, since its electric power input is designed to work with a current intensity and an alternating current voltage with constant value (usually, usually, 230V).
Normally, adjustable drivers are sold as an additional accessory when buying the panel, then, when installing the product, driver is simply replaced that brings by default, with the adjustable driver achieved as an optional product. Once the change of the driver has been made for a dimable one, we already have a panel in which the light intensity can be regulated. But this is not enough to regulate intensity. Therefore, what we need is a regulator (Dimmer in English) that allows us to adjust the light intensity values that we want.

Advantages of LED panels

LED panels have meant a revolution in the world of lighting because they simplify the concept in their design replacing the old fluorescent tubes with their housings with metal diffusers that gave so many problems. The advantages of the installation of LED panels are the following.
1. New design: With the new design of this type of panels, both the installation and the operation of the same have been simplified since it is basically to place, connect and already operate. With this new format the light flow is uniform and well directed so we will not have dead spaces or angles. As for the finish we can find it with white frame or silver depending on the design that best suits our installation.
2. start -up: it is so simple to connect that you just have to remove the old panel, take the driver that is supplied with the panel, connect to the current and automatically started. You have nothing more to do, it's so simple that anyone can do. You do not have to have advanced knowledge in electricity. Obviously, you always have to follow the assembly and security standards to make a correct assembly and that we do not suffer any mishaps.
3. Energy savings: With the change of fluorescent to LED, energy and monetary savings are guaranteed. In most cases, when we change panels with fluorescent to LED, energy savings are around 80%. This is clearly one of the main advantages that make LED change one of the best decisions that can be made.
4. Long useful life: With the change to LED we gain in durability of the product, since the useful life of this type of panel is 30000 hours so we have guaranteed panels for many years. In addition, maintenance of these is panels is minimal since we do not have to change defective components. In addition, another advantage inherent in LEDs is their low warming, which makes their useful life augmented or improved.
5. Environmental respectful: This type of panel has the ROHS certificate, so that in its manufacture no hazardous and harmful materials have been used with the environment in accordance with the legislation of the European Union.

What measures do LED panels have?

One of the main advantages of LED panels is their versatility.  As we have seen, they can be installed on office plot or plaster ceilings. Another of its advantages is the different measures and sizes that can be found. How always, depending on the power, the measure changes, the standard measure being the most demanded that of 600 x 600 mm. Next, we will comment on the most common measures that can be found within the world of lighting.
1. 300x300mm
2. 300x600mm
3. 600x600mm
4. 30x1200mm
5. 60x1200mm
As we have indicated above, as panel measures change too, the power does. For example, 600 x 600 mm panels usually have a power between 36W and 48W depending on the model. The 300 x 300 breads usually have a power of around 12W, while the 60 x 1200 mm are the most powerful with powers that vary between 70 and 80W of power.
As we have seen, panels can offer us a versatile and efficient solution for different rooms. They can be installed both in a kitchen, as in an office, as in a workshop.

How to know how many panels should we install?

This seems to be the big question that all customers are asked when they face a new installation or when they want to make the change to LED. How many panels should we install?
Previously, a recommendation must be taken into account a series of concepts:
1. The ceiling height: This is usually between 2.5 - 2.7 m).
2. Number of natural light we receive: depending on the amount of natural light we receive we will have to place more or less panels.
3. The color of the roof, walls and soil: a white space or lighter colors reflects more than a dark color.
Therefore and having these factors into account the recommendations of panels that are usually made is to place a LED panel for every 5 square meters. If our office is about 20 square meters we will have to place 4 LED panels to have an illuminance of 500 lx.
This rule can help us to know in a preliminary way the number of panels we need in our stay. If we want to perform a real and closer calculation, we will have to resort to calculation software in which a greater amount of luminothe technical parameters are taken into account.

Surface LED panel installation

For the installation of surface LED panels there are three different alternatives that we explain below.
The first one is the installation with surface frame. The first step is to place the four sides of the frame to see how we are going to screw them. Later we will screw up three sides of the panel so that we have a hole to introduce the panel. Then we will screw the three sides to the roof. The next step is to slide the panel and close the last side screwing it. In this way we already have the first ending option.
The second option is to use surface installation clips. To do this, we will first screw the staples to the LED panel using the same screws that the panel brings. Subsequently, with the clips already fixed on the panel, we will screw these to the roof so that the panel is fixed to the ceiling.
The third option is to use panel suspension accessories. To do this, we will remove the screws from the back of the panel and use this to fix the kit base. Once we have all the bases fixed, we have to curl the end of the corresponding cable and the other end to the large fastening thread that will go on the roof. Finally we set the large thread that goes to the roof and curl the other end of the cable. You can regulate the panel height to our needs easily.
