How to place pool lights?
This part is very important, since if it is not done correctly it can lead to glare or lighting failures. There are three alternatives when carrying out the installation. We discuss them below.
- Single focus: In small pools where there are no obstacles, installing a single light is sufficient. This will always be placed centered on the shortest part of the pool in order to illuminate the longest part of the pool.
- Facing focuses: As long as our pool allows it due to its dimensions, the spotlights can be installed centered on the shortest part of the pool and facing each other. In this way the light is distributed more homogeneously and small alterations or obstacles that may be found in the pool can be overcome.
- Lighting from the wide part: When the long part of the pool exceeds 10 meters, the lights are installed along this part, leaving a separation between lights of 2.5 m and 1.25 m at both ends. The placement of these spotlights will be done with your back to the house or any passage area to avoid glare problems.
Installation of LED Pool Spotlights
How do you know how many lights to install in a pool?
The recommendation of the majority of installers recommends the installation of 1 pool light for every 20 m.2 of water surface. The optimal location of the spotlights is 30 cm from the top of the pool. In this way, access to them for maintenance tasks is facilitated. If, for example, you are going to build a 6 m x 4 m pool, you will only have to install one pool light.
Compatibility between recessed LED and Halogen pool lights
If you currently have 100W halogen lights installed in your pool, the replacement to LED is 12W, while if you have 300W lights installed, the LED equivalent will be 25W.
