Osram-Ledvance R7S LED bulbs

Osram-Ledvance R7S LED bulbs replace the classic double-ended linear halogens used in floor lamps, indirect-light wall lights and floodlights. With Ledvance quality and LED technology, you get similar light at a fraction of the energy use and with much less heat, which extends the life of the fixture.

Ledvance R7S bulbs

The Ledvance/Osram “Special” range for R7s bases includes versions such as these:

  • 11.5 W and 13 W R7s: 1,521 lm of 2700 K warm light with a 300º beam angle, an efficient alternative to medium-wattage halogens.
  • 18.2 W R7s: 2,452 lm, 2700 K and 300º, to replace high-wattage halogens in floor lamps and floodlights.
  • Dimmable 18.2 W R7s: the same light output, designed for lamps with a dimmer.

This collection is updated with the available models; you can see all current variants in R7S LED bulbs.

Uses for R7S bulbs

  • Indirect-light floor lamps: the typical uplighters that light toward the ceiling in living rooms.
  • Wall lights: uplight models or wall washers.
  • Halogen floodlights: in patios, garages or on facades, as long as the fixture is protected.

How to choose an R7S LED bulb

Length

This is the most important detail: measure your current halogen bulb from tip to tip. The most common lengths are 78 mm and 118 mm; the LED must match to fit between the contacts.

Equivalent lumens

Compare the halogen's lumens with the LED's. An R7s LED of around 2,400 lm replaces high-wattage halogens.

Dimming

Many floor lamps include a dimmer. In that case, choose a dimmable version to avoid flickering.

Space and heat dissipation

R7S LEDs are usually slightly thicker than halogens because of their heat sink. Check that they fit in the fixture.
